Sha'ban: Merits, Do's, and Dont's
Sha'ban is one of the meritorious months for which we find some particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. It is reported in the authentic ahadith that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, used to fast most of the month in Sha'ban. These fasts were not obligatory on him but Sha'ban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. Therefore, some preparatory measures are suggested by Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. Some of these are given below:

Sighting the Hilal (Crescent) for the Holy Month of Ramadan
Ibn Umar (ra) reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying in connection with Ramadan: “Do not fast till you see the new moon, and do not break fast till you see it” (Saheeh Muslim)
Ibn Umar (ra) reported that Allah's Messenger (pbuh) made a mention of Ramadan and he with the gesture of his hand said: “The month is thus and thus. (He then withdrew his thumb at the third time). This month was regarded as one of the sacred months (Al-Ash-hur-Al-hurum) in which battles were prohibited in the days of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. It is also deemed to be a prelude to the month of Ramadhân, because the month of Ramadhân follows it after the intervening month of Sha'ban. Therefore, when the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to supplicate to Allâh in the following words ...

Canada Day

Natural Disasters, A Muslim’s Duty
Recent hurricanes, earthquakes and cyclones are reported to have been most devastating within the last decades. These natural disasters become the means for the death of a great number of human beings. So many assets, possessions and structures are destroyed. They are the result of deserting many cities and villages. Their inhabitants are left in a state without shelter and wealth.
