CCMT Statment on Terrorism (2798 Views)

"The Jami'yyatul Ulama Canada (CCMT) condemns all acts of terrorism and makes it clear that targeting the innocent public (civilians) is absolutely unacceptable and incorrect, according to the Shariah (Islamic Law).

While Islam requires the objective of a cause to be a lawful one, the means and tactics employed to achieve the goal must also be lawful. It is only then that the path to corrective development becomes accessible. Otherwise, it becomes a roadway to corruption and devastation.

According to Islamic principles, if oppressors are attacking a people in their territory, then the oppressors found within that territory must be confronted and challenged. But even then, to target innocent civilians or to spill the war into other areas is absolutely prohibited.

The Prophet of Islam, Mohammed (pbuh) is the greatest role model for his followers and indeed there is not a single incident in the life of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) wherein innocent civilians were made a target.

We, the members of the CCMT, unequivocally condemn these despicable acts. We also ask the authorities and the general public to be mindful of directly or indirectly linking all Muslims, in general, to these horrific events.

We also appeal to intellectuals that they ponder over the possible causes of these immoral incidents and bring forward proposals to remove these causes in a just manner, without compromising the human rights of any individual or group.”
